How it works

How this calculator works

Both employee and employer contribute 12% of PF wages each month. Of the employer share, 8.33% (capped at the ₹25,000 wage ceiling since 17 September 2026) is routed to the Employee Pension Scheme (EPS), with the remainder credited to the PF account.

PF Calculator formula

Employee PF = 12% of Basic + DA. Employer 12% = 8.33% to EPS (on wages up to ₹25,000) + the balance to EPF. EDLI = 0.5% of wages up to ₹25,000. The ceiling was ₹15,000 until 16 September 2026.

Worked example

Rahul's Basic + DA is ₹25,000 a month.

  1. Employee PF = 12% × ₹25,000 = ₹3,000
  2. Employer EPS = 8.33% × ₹25,000 (ceiling) = ₹2,083
  3. Employer EPF = ₹3,000 − ₹2,083 = ₹917
  4. Employer EDLI = 0.5% × ₹25,000 = ₹125

₹3,917 a month goes to Rahul's EPF account (₹3,000 + ₹917) and ₹2,083 to his EPS pension account.
